London Diary :: Life and Times (in black and white)

I'm always taking pictures here and there on my travels to and from places in London - tiny in-between moments, things that catch my eye, or don't fit in anywhere else. Here are a bunch of them from the past... year.


The Queen's Wood is a short walk from my house and the perfect place to sit and be peaceful and reconnect with nature (and poke frog spawn, or climb trees, or generally regress in age).










It was an absolute joy to walk through Smithfields Market every day for the 8 months I spent working in Farringdon.

Having a roof terrace to lunch on wasn't so bad either.



I shot these across a mix of B&W films on my Canon EOS3000, Mamiya 135EF and Yashica TL Electro X over the course of late 2013 and early 2014.

Palace Gardens

Earlier this week I took you on a trip to the wonderful Blenheim Palace. I had to give the gorgeous gardens their own special post - they are so beautiful and special.

I'm so glad I decided to shoot on B&W film this day. The gardens are incredible, sprawling, perfectly manicured in places and delightfully overgrown in others. I could spend all Summer roaming this park.

I shot these using my Yashica TL Electro-X in the Summer of 2012. In case you missed it, earlier in the week I blogged my photographs from inside the palace, which you can see here.

year of the horse

I like horses. This is an omen that this year will be good. Here are some of my favourite horse photographs I have taken to celebrate.

a world of birds aka birdworld

Birdworld, the world's most exciting themepark, offers you exactly what it says on the tin. A world of birds! Who knew there were so many different kinds of pheasant! Look at them shine!

Not pictured: Chickens with amazing hair, because I am still a bit upset my boyfriend would not let me buy one and can't handle thinking about how empty my life is without one.

I took these photographs with a hangover and my Mamiya 135F so they are a bit out of focus, but I kind of like them anyway.
